Advanced Gynecologic Care for Women
Through our dedicated women’s health programs, we offer some of the most advanced care for women who need gynecologic care. Our expert in-house physician provides individualized, specialized care aimed at not only treating disease but in helping women achieve and maintain better overall health.
Gynecologist / Surgery
When medication and other gynecology procedures are unable to relieve symptoms, surgery remains the accepted and most effective treatment for a range of gynecologic conditions. These include, but are not limited to, cervical and uterine cancer, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, uterine prolapse, or excessive bleeding.
Traditional “open gynecologic surgery”, using a large incision for access to the uterus and surrounding region, has been the standard approach for too many gynecologic procedures. However, these procedures result in more pain and discomfort, longer recovery, and potential impact on nearby organs and nerves.
For women facing gynecologic surgery, there are new, advanced options thanks to minimally invasive procedures. In some cases, our board-certified and experienced gynecologist can access these regions through a vaginal approach or a series of very tiny abdominal incisions. These laparoscopic and robotically perfected techniques offered at IWHC provide women with a fast recovery and excellent clinical outcomes.
Incontinence & Urogynecology
It is said that 25% of women have urinary incontinence and Dr. Rexroth believes that number becomes higher when women become older or menopausal. “Thankfully, we have newer techniques to reduce these problems. With the advent of better medication, minimally invasive surgeries, and through exercise. Women are leading better, livelier, and healthier lifestyles.”
Gynecology Services for all Age Women
Iowa Women’s Health Center: Cedar Rapids sees women of any age. Younger women may need more precise care regarding abdominal pain, period control, or vaginal bleeding. On the other spectrum middle age can be very difficult hormonally with menopause, and bladder control. IWHC does specialize in hormone replacement therapy and various other aspects regarding post childbirth: prolapse, pelvic floor, breasts, and even your skin.
